One of the most anticipated events in this year was the MITIS SportsFest 2011. After the teams and their members were announced, all of the pumped up students celebrated, wonder if they’re going to win and some bragged they will likely win. The Orange Team and Grey Team, dubbed as the Annoying Orange and Grey Storm respectively, blasted some noise around the campus of how star-studded and talented they’re players were. These teams boasted some of the big, athletic and skillful students around. However, Blue Team and Maroon Team, dubbed as Blue’s Clues and Maroon-ong respectively, is an another story. These teams made some people thought that they might the fall to the last place or they’re so obvious to be the losers. One thing is for sure – all these squads were enraged by their intense desire to win every single game with their great determination and teamwork.
March 25 marks the start of the MITIS SportsFest 2011. Four determined teams, two-day battle of the giants and one goal – to be crowned as the champs, are most likely the things that best describes this event. MITIS SportsFest 2011 includes the games like basketball, volleyball, badminton, tug-of-war and chess. Maybe the most hard-fought contest in this series was the cheerleading contest. For a week, each team practiced and drained sweat and hours just to show and perfect their cheers. Grey Storm’s was a blast for putting a lot of props in the production, entertaining dance and synchronized moves. It seems that Grey Storm already put a nail in the coffin but Maroon-ong cheerleading exhibition was awarded to be the best. Grey Storm’s performance was great but it went over being a “cheer” and Maroon-ong captured the crown for showcasing their hidden cheerleading skills. In tug-of-war, Grey Storm outlasts other teams after displaying their physical toughness. In basketball, most of the boys were excited. The court is jam-packed of players practicing shooting. Well, the most feared team maybe was the Annoying Orange. How can’t you fear the team who is filled with tall and buffed guys gifted with athleticism and basketball skills? As the first game starts between Blue’s Clues and Annoying Orange, Blue’s Clues grabbed a stunning win over Annoying Orange in a blood-drained match. In addition, Grey Storm crushed the Maroon-ong in their easy win. Also, some match-ups pulled some upset victories and big wins. Grey Storm blow past the Annoying Oranges to capture the title. Kids also enjoyed playing mini-soccer. Other players participated in relay games. Teams who joined the sports like volleyball and badminton captured close wins. Mentally skilled players battled in chess. Overall, everybody played and exerted effort in each games and they had a lot of fun.
It’s the second time the school held a sportsfest and so far, this is the most intriguing yet the greatest sportsfest in MITIS. Most of the students enjoyed this event. Everybody just won’t shut up for cheering for their teams in each games. You can hear cheers and yells every time and everywhere. Everybody seemed to enjoy every single game they participated. Teams highlighted jaw-dropping performances and some players shines to lead their team. Maroon-ong, one of the underdog teams, stunned and shocked the campus after being crowned as the champs. Leading the whole campus with a big margin over the second place, Annoying Orange, Maroon-ong upsets the other teams for being the best team for this year’s sportsfest. Congratulations Maroon-ong!
